We are a team of business professionals, consultants and occupational psychologists; our staff base is structured to ensure you have the personal attention of highly experienced practitioners at all stages of your assignment.

At Benson Payne we deliberately operate with a 'top-heavy' structure - the significant majority of our consulting team having held senior executive positions prior to joining our company. This we feel guarantees you the experienced, high-level support required for realising people focused success.

The team at Benson Payne is committed to the process of transferring the skills that are necessary for the subsequent management and development of new processes in-house by our clients. We are successful if our clients can manage without us on completion of our assignments!

Michael J Payne BA (Hons), FCIB, FCIPD, FRSA

Formed Benson Payne in December 1989, he was previously a senior management consultant with Price Waterhouse. Prior to that, he was Staff Controller at The Halifax.

Over 25 years in-depth experience in Human Resource Management including 18 years as a top management consultant worldwide, with 'blue chip' clients in both the private, public and charity sectors. Industries worked in include: central and local government, banking, finance, engineering, retail, food and drink, textiles, oil, estate agency, transport, pharmaceuticals, civil service and education.

His work for major organisations has included extensive Human Asset Management including Strategic HR at Board level, trouble shooting and delivering complex consulting and interim assignments. He has had considerable experience in psychometrics, selection and recruitment, building high performing teams, corporate communications, motivation, transformation, job evaluation, performance appraisal, culture change, diversity policy, and assessment centres.

He is regarded as a high profile and charismatic person who has considerable leadership ability and drive which get results. As such, he is frequently used as a guest speaker on conferences and training programmes and asked to sort out difficult managerial situations which may involve executive coaching and reorganisation at a senior level.

Mike has extensive global HR experience. In addition to working in a US bank, he has experience of the Middle East, Far East, Europe, Russia and Former Soviet Union countries. He has worked in locations such as Beirut and Baku for both British multi-national companies and the UN. He has delivered courses for the European Commission in Paris.

Wayne S Marsh MA (Cantab), FRSA

Wayne is a highly experienced consultant and practitioner, in particular being regarded as a leading figure in the UK in the development and implementation of competency frameworks, national occupational standards and associated qualifications.

Prior to consultancy, Wayne held senior marketing positions within leading multi-national companies. Before he joined Benson Payne in 1991, Wayne worked for the management consultancy firm Price Waterhouse, where he had responsibility for establishing and developing a regional marketing consultancy practice.

Wayne has acquired extensive experience and knowledge of a wide range of sectors and his clients include private and public organisations - from SMEs to the largest multi-nationals. Consultancy work has included projects within central and local government, financial services, food and drink, durable goods manufacturing, petrochemicals, professional services, telecommunications, retail and utilities.

Consultancy assignments he has undertaken include the development of business strategy, organisational reviews, management of change, and the development and implementation of competency frameworks. His work with national occupational standards includes that for many of the UK's Sector Skill Councils and other Standards Setting Bodies.

Nancy Ellis MBA, LLB

Nancy is an experienced trainer and consultant with a particular interest in employment legislation and policies. Her background is in engineering and pharmaceuticals, where line management responsibility required significant development of staff in order to achieve performance-related personal and business goals.

She has designed and delivered a wide range of stand-alone skills training for numerous organisations, in both the public and private sectors. In addition, she has also devised management training and development programmes that have encompassed a wide variety of organisational cultures and requirements. These are often preceded by 360 degree feedback processes and development centres, which Nancy has also introduced and facilitated.

The provision of individual feedback sessions and personal coaching is a natural follow-on from these activities, which Nancy has provided to managers at every level. Nancy is also experienced in providing coaching to directors in emerging companies and trustee boards in charitable organisations.

Working with various senior management teams as their communications specialist, Nancy has provided strategies to ensure that change programmes are introduced in ways that provide for appropriate consultation and stakeholder involvement, minimising the impact on end-user roles and responsibilities.

Lauren Davies MA(HRD), MCIPD

Lauren brings many years' experience of Human Resource Management, training and development to Benson Payne's senior team. Lauren has held commercially focused HR roles, most recently directing the HR and Training function for a large retail finance organisation, where she defined and implemented an HR strategy adding significant value to the achievement of the strategic goals of the business.

Prior to this, she consulted for a number of organisations in the private, public and not-for-profit sectors, devising and delivering tailored management development programmes, managing senior level recruitment and selection, and undertaking research projects in areas such as diversity and organisational development.

Lauren has extensive experience in HR strategy and policy development, design and delivery of tailored management and team development programmes, and has extensive knowledge of employment law that she has applied in the management of a number of organisational restructures and large scale redundancy programmes. Her further areas of expertise include senior level recruitment and assessment, management coaching and performance management.

Lauren is fully qualified and licensed in the application of a range of Occupational Psychometric tools, is a qualified counsellor and an NVQ Assessor.
