Formed Benson Payne in December 1989, he was previously a senior management consultant with Price Waterhouse. Prior to that, he was Staff Controller at The Halifax.
Over 25 years in-depth experience in Human Resource Management including 18 years as a top management consultant worldwide, with 'blue chip' clients in both the private, public and charity sectors. Industries worked in include: central and local government, banking, finance, engineering, retail, food and drink, textiles, oil, estate agency, transport, pharmaceuticals, civil service and education.
His work for major organisations has included extensive Human Asset Management including Strategic HR at Board level, trouble shooting and delivering complex consulting and interim assignments. He has had considerable experience in psychometrics, selection and recruitment, building high performing teams, corporate communications, motivation, transformation, job evaluation, performance appraisal, culture change, diversity policy, and assessment centres.
He is regarded as a high profile and charismatic person who has considerable leadership ability and drive which get results. As such, he is frequently used as a guest speaker on conferences and training programmes and asked to sort out difficult managerial situations which may involve executive coaching and reorganisation at a senior level.
Mike has extensive global HR experience. In addition to working in a US bank, he has experience of the Middle East, Far East, Europe, Russia and Former Soviet Union countries. He has worked in locations such as Beirut and Baku for both British multi-national companies and the UN. He has delivered courses for the European Commission in Paris.
Wayne is a highly experienced consultant and practitioner, in particular being regarded as a leading figure in the UK in the development and implementation of competency frameworks, national occupational standards and associated qualifications.
Prior to consultancy, Wayne held senior marketing positions within leading multi-national companies. Before he joined Benson Payne in 1991, Wayne worked for the management consultancy firm Price Waterhouse, where he had responsibility for establishing and developing a regional marketing consultancy practice.
Wayne has acquired extensive experience and knowledge of a wide range of sectors and his clients include private and public organisations - from SMEs to the largest multi-nationals. Consultancy work has included projects within central and local government, financial services, food and drink, durable goods manufacturing, petrochemicals, professional services, telecommunications, retail and utilities.
Consultancy assignments he has undertaken include the development of business strategy, organisational reviews, management of change, and the development and implementation of competency frameworks. His work with national occupational standards includes that for many of the UK's Sector Skill Councils and other Standards Setting Bodies.
